The City of Ames/Ames Transit Agency is committed to ensuring that all persons have an equal opportunity to receive and participate in City of Ames/Ames Transit Agency contracts, helping to increase the number of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firms and encouraging the participation of DBE firms in prime contracting and subcontracting opportunities. It is therefore the policy of City of Ames/Ames Transit Agency that DBE's shall have fair opportunity to compete for and participate on Ames Transit Agency contracts and subcontracts, pursuant to U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) regulation 49 CFR Part 26.

Unfortunately as of FFY2023, CyRide does not meet the annual threshold requirement of having more than $250,000 in federal contracting opportunities in a given year to have a DBE program.

To become certified as DBE, a business must meet the eligibility standards established by the USDOT regulation 49 CFR Part 26. The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) certifies businesses as DBE for the state of Iowa through a unified process.

For certification applications or additional information about the certification process, please contract the Iowa DOT’s Civil Rights Team at 515-239-1422 or 515-239-1304, email at civil.rights@iowadot.us or visit Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program (iowadot.gov).

As of FFY2023, CyRide no longer meets the threshold to have a DBE Program or goals of having more than $250,000 in federal contracting opportunities. CyRide's DBELO will review this annually to ensure it will not surpass the threshold.
