Connect with CyRide via Twitter, Facebook and E-mail Notification!

1) Twitter

CyRide publishes route problems using text messages to your mobile phone over Twitter! You can use this service to keep you in the loop even when you’re away from your computer!

  • Get your Twitter Account

    Go to http://www.twitter.com/cyride
Start by clicking the “Sign Up” button at the top of the screen.
Follow Twitter’s instructions to finish creating your new account.

That is everything you need to do to get on Twitter! If you only want to keep track of us when you’re on the Internet, that is great. But to really get everything out of this great service, you should enable text messages on your phone. Click "Set up mobile notifications" and follow Twitter instructions to validate your phone number with your new Twitter account!

  • Get Text Messages (aka SMS) On Your Mobile Phone from CyRide

To get CyRide's Tweets on your mobile phone, just text "follow CyRide" to 40404. (Similarly, you can turn off CyRide's Tweets by texting "unfollow CyRide" to 40404.) CyRide only sends out detours, service problems, and other route disruptions on Twitter to keep the numb

er of text messages manageable. Check out your text plan with your wireless carrier for applicable charges.

2) Like CyRide on Facebook!

You can also get more information (and show your CyRide pride!) by liking CyRide on Facebook!

3) Sign up for E-Notification!

CyRide has an e-mail notification where you can sign up for Alerts for CyRide's transit routes and What's New with CyRide.  BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR E-NOTIFICATION SUBSCRIPTION TO GET NOTIFIED ABOUT NEW ROUTES UNDER CYRIDE 2.0!  This E-notification allows you to specify how much you want to be informed.  Perhaps you want to be informed about all of the routes operating throughout Ames or just the one route you ride the most.  The What's New category keeps you informed of all other newsworthy items such as meetings and events at CyRide.
