September 1, 2010: Take CyRide to the Game! Individuals going to the football game may park at K-Mart (S. 16th/Duff) and utilize CyRide’s free Orange/Gray Route service as it is open to the general public. Two temporary bus stops are located at the corner of S. 16th/University for passengers to board/alight near Jack Trice Football Field until 10:19 p.m. Click on the map to see the Orange/Gray route detour for Thursday. Furthermore due to the unprecedented rainfall and the anticipated number of football attendees parking at K-Mart due to closed public lots around the stadium, CyRide will operate Orange/Gray route buses after the football game back to K-Mart. CyRide’s distinctive cybrid buses will be staged on the EAST SIDE OF THE STADIUM and will depart for K-Mart once a bus is filled with passengers. Give CyRide a call at 292-1100 if you have questions!
August 31, 2010:
Sign APTA's Petition For Congress to "act now" and
Support CyRide! -
CyRide needs your support! Federal funding providing more than $1.3
million dollars each year towards CyRide’s services, as well as funding
for all transit systems in the nation, has been delayed for more than a
year in Congress. It requires passage of a six-year authorization and
funding bill and without this new bill, CyRide and transit systems
around the nation continue to receive lower federal funding to support
their services. With CyRide’s record ridership over the last several
years, this lower funding and increased demand has provided a funding
challenge for the community.
The solution to this issue is
to pass a new federal transportation bill, hopefully with increasing
levels of funding. Congress has delayed taking action on this issue so
we encourage our riders and non-riders to
sign the national
transit association’s petition to Congress asking them to act now
and a pass another six-year bill that will support the Ames and ISU
community’s desire for quality public
transit service.
